It’s difficult for me to judge where the cut off point is on this one – who’s in and who’s out? And I can’t help but think I’m leaving out loads of people who are very good. But I was given the ‘9’ slot by Ma’am, so here we go…
The Internet with its explosion of free webinars and seminars has given us access to many successful people without the need to even leave our desks – and that’s pretty neat. Most of the ones whose names we’d recognise are hosted in the USA so they go out ‘live’ at American-friendly times. That may mean it’s inconvenient for Europeans if we want to participate in real time and pose our own specific question to the personality (which is often allowed) but replays are usually available to listen to for free for at least 24 hours after the event.
The topics are the usual ones along the self/ business improvement/ development lines: health, wealth and relationships. And as far as I can see, there are two main types of webinars and teleseminars: Self-hosted Hotshots and guest interview slots with what I’ll call Enablers.
There are some very, very good enablers who actually make the Hotshots look even better: The enablers are very like TV or radio chat show hosts and are good at what they do. They gain their own ‘personality’ status out of it. They may not be great speakers but they attract great achievers and communicators to join them in interviews and so spread the guest’s word (whatever that might be…)… and, I’m guessing, pick up their 70% affiliate fee on any back end client product sales (usually heavily ‘discounted’ and promoted during the latter part of the interview).
They also often offer purchase of a whole series of guest interviews that we can own for ever and listen to again and again, whenever we want (thus also prolonging the lifetime of the guests’ “special offers”) – another neat little revenue channel!
Yes, we need to be totally aware that it’s paid or unpaid marketing for these guests: We are potentially being sold to somewhere down the line in this experience. And that’s okay because, by the same token, these guys and gals have a duty to provide value to their target audience – you and me – or they’re ‘toast’ and we’ll ditch their future emails.
Here are some of the most established enablers – their webinars and teleseminars are often seasonal – they don’t play all year round – but you can get a feel for any you might want to listen to in the future.
The Sheila Show Oh-oh, when I checked earlier I found the interview you can listen to is one you may well find a bit woo-woo. It’s with Hans King – but he’s been round the block a few times and he’s an interesting, gentle soul, so an experience!
And here’s a free download gift as another example. This is Dain Heer. I’d say just listen to this guy. Don’t try to categorise him. He sounds, at times, like a tail-wagging, out of control young ‘pup’. That might put you off but I’ve found that when you get into what he’s talking about it’s worth sussing out (okay: I LOVE his humour – I know, not everyone will, but I’ll listen to him even just to get a ‘lift’).
Braveheart Women TV – hosted by Ellie Drake – this one’s USP is that its sharing is in 10-minute chunks – and it’s up there all the time.
The Aware Show – Hosted by Lisa Garr – this one is a real personal development ‘junkie’! She has been around for several years and she for sure gets the big names in the personal and business development arena. I’ve just found a page on her site that gives access to listen to a whopping 7 bonus interviews – including Wayne Dyer and Bruce Lipton – with some very ‘now’ stuff.
The Conscious Activist – Hosted by Doug Parks who, it seems, is my token ‘bloke’ ![]()
This guy really is a warrior and, I’d have thought, if anyone is on the US government’s hit list it would have to be him! He has the famous and also the not so well known who are fighting a cause that he believes is worthwhile and should be aired. He’s a great believer in the power of the individual to make things happen at grass roots level. Just following the link will give you access to 5 hours of listening to 5 different contributors.
Cynthia Kersey I admit that this one’s a bit of a cheat (only a bit…) and it’s one that will resonate strongly with our very own Ida. This lady has created the Unstoppable Foundation that in just 3 years has funded 22 classrooms in three African nations that will empower 71,960 children.
She sneaks in under the radar by virtue of her Give a little Get a Lot campaign where she strong arms her mates into donating some of their best programs that people can buy for a tiny fraction of the normal cost. So I’ll shamelessly plug the links (and hope that they stay active for a while):
Doug Nelson interview + offers
Bob Proctor interview + offers
Lisa Sasevich interview + offers
Chris Guerriero interview + offers
If you get something of incredible value for $97 and it benefits the kids, how cool is that? Update 20th December am: I see in my inbox they have a page up with all the offers – it’s up just for this week
Lisa Sasevich This lady’s niche is converting customers. She’s relatively new to the circuit but is already sharing the stage with the likes of Brian Tracey – if you click on the link I’ve provided you can go and register to listen to the recording of “3 Biggest Mistakes Speakers Make That Keeps Them From Cashing In On BIG Pay Days (Not to Mention Getting their Message Out In the World in a BIG Way)”
Christy Whitman – This lady makes part of her money by coaching life coaches – I know, I can hear the groans. But, quite frankly, if struggling life coaches can pick up something by following her free course (that you’ll hopefully still be able to access by clicking on the link provided), why not? Or there are other freebies you can sign up for on her home page.
Loral Langmeier – This woman is an absolute ACE self-promoter – and when I Googled her name I saw there’s good and bad about her on the Internet – but that doesn’t stop her having some good free stuff that she shares. Sign up for her newsletter and you immediately get access to three free videos – Proceed using your common sense!
Jeneth Blackert – More free training for you! Here you’ll find a series of 20-30 minute videos that pretty much spell out the sales and marketing formula that this lady has used to build her successful business.
Well, apart from the fact they’re all women, they’re all successful business women who are very clear about where their strengths and values lie, know how to get their message out and they do it in their own way.
I don’t know about you but I’m putting a line in the sand and stating my intention here and now to stop playing small and instead see how far I can go and the best way of doing that is to help others do the same!
Who would you nominate as a Hotshot who shares her talents, skills and/or experiences to help others

Hi Sarah
The great thing about this whole thing with the Give a Little campaign, as far as I can see, is how everybody who is a part of it benefits:
Content donors: They’re in the personal/ business improvement/ development line. They’ve already made a ‘pile’ or two. The material they’re donating already exists. They get the opportunity to look and feel good: That’s their pay off.
The purchaser gets a fantastic bargain – provided s/he’s buying something s/he wants rather than just being dragged in on the ‘fire sale’ premise. Or, maybe s/he is also getting a feel good pay off thinking about all those kids who’ll now get an education – and potentially a whole different life – as a result.
Last but not least, of course, it’s what the kids themselves are in line for as a result!
Maybe it’s the fact that Birds sponsor Princess and Perfect that makes this appeal/ campaign more personal?
