Anti-Bullying Week 2010 – Looking At Bullying In The Workplace

It’s Anti-bullying week! The week runs from the 15th- 19th November. This week is vital in emphasising the many issues surrounding bullying, which affects thousands of lives each year. This year it is focusing on the theme ‘Taking Action Together,’ as the only way we will make a difference and stop bullying, is by working together. This can impact in many ways, from supporting those affected, to taking a stand and saying NO to Bullying.

Some Enchanted Evening …

I have always wanted to visit one of the many gardens / arboretums that have special evenings, where cleverly placed lights in varying colours highlight the autumn/ winter garden. Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens in Dorset run a special event called ‘Enchanted Floodlit Evenings’ for the last two weeks of October, I thought this would be an enjoyable evening out.

A dream comes true. What is on your dream list?

Recently I managed to accomplish a dream that has been on my list for what seems like forever! I think dreams and aspirations are a good thing to have, as it can help us focus, particularly when things are a little tough. I have a few dreams – work and personal, such as I would love to visit as many gardens or wildflower meadows as I can, worldwide. For the last week of September we went on holiday to Devon and stayed in a beautiful thatched cottage – Squirrel Cottage from the Devon Cottage Company.

World Arthritis day – Looking At Disability In The Work Place.

October 12th is World Arthritis Day. Arthritis is known to be one of the biggest causes of disability in the UK. There is a common myth that arthritis only affects older people, but thousands of people of working age and younger, are affected by this very painful disease. Arthritis comes in many forms, but often the pain can be so disabling that it can prevent people doing normal everyday tasks, let alone work if the right support is not given.
