Eyelash Extensions… whatever next?

During a lull in the world domination summit the other weekend with Sarah, somehow the subject of eyelash extensions came up. I cannot for the life of me remember why, but you know how us women can be, especially with a good friend who can keep up with where the mind wanders.

But really – eyelash extentions – you have to be kidding me. I can barely see the point in false eyelashes, never mind extending the existing ones.

Obviously the result of those adverts for mascara, all but one of which (to my knowledge) are enhanced, post-production! What is the point of that, I always wonder.

Surely the point is to sell the effect of the mascara, and how can those naughty advertising people be doing that if the gorgeous models are not wearing the unenhanced mascara on their lashes? Shame on them!

It’s not envy on my part – OK so my lashes are not what they once were and still I cannot bear mascara on them anyway – I tug it off within 5 minutes every time. And eyelash dye – well what a pointless exercise that is, surely – or am I doing it wrong. Honestly, I’m glad I’m not a young woman now with such pressures to ignore. Whatever happened to fresh-faced beauty?

I know I should have saved this post for Grumpies later in the month, but Sarah insisted I share with you Birds here. What do you think about the very idea of extensions on your eyelashes?

  1. If you think eyelash extensions are OTT, have a look at these… am still laughing and it’s a full 10 minutes since I watched it….(over 18s only, please.)

    • Dear God, Suze! The world has gone officially mad. I am still trying to process exactly what the runway models were modelling. I mean, none of us spend three years growing our pubic hair so we can walk round in public with no clothes on … do we?!

  2. We were talking about the business uses of Groupon, and that lead to the great offers we had seen and how I fancied Eyelash Extensions…

  3. I agree with you, Babs (but I suspect we’re on the same wavelength on a number of issues). How shallow must that Sarah Arrow woman be, to want eyelash extensions??! (haha).

I do see the point of having your eyelashes dyed, if only to avoid messing around with mascara, which I almost never wear. But no, in general, I’m an anti-make up girl. I always remember that my mother looked completely washed out on the very rare occasions she did not “put her face on”, simply because she never emerged from her room without full makeup. And I never wanted to be like that.

  6. False eyelashes do not have to be dramatic, a beautician can trim them to your preference so you get just what you want. Visiting a beautician is a great way to feel pampered and if you look after yours properly they will last a relatively long time. Avoid any oil based products near the lashes to ensure they stay on and when you’re ready to take the off it is pain free but I guarantee you will be hooked as they look fantastic! Make an appointment today for something special or just as a pampering treat.
