How many tips, tricks, and awesome hacks do we need?
While plotting world domination with Sarah, as we are inclined to do on occasion (we’ll actually do it one day, that will surprise you, and us!), we considered the many and (perhaps not so) varied launches and offers that land in our inboxes every day.
When I sign up to receive updates from online peers it is with the intention of keeping an eye on how things are evolving in the world of online marketing. However sometimes the email inviting me to partake of more awesomeness than I can handle can be quite compelling, especially if it is from someone I especially respect. But so much of it really is the same-old, same-old.
Yes there are always more tools for us to harness, but we certainly don’t have to drop everything to go play with them. It seems to me that if something crosses our radar that tweaks our interest, we could simply take note to consider it during a regularly scheduled review of our strategies. Oh that sounds so organised, doesn’t it? Hark at me!
Luckily for me the very wording of these sales letters, for that is what they are, however chummily worded and presented, puts me off. Talking about “77 tricks, cheats and awesome hacks” turns me off. I don’t care that they must work for the people using them, or that they are being used by a seemingly down-to-earth Yorkshireman – start talking awesome with me and I’m just not interested.
So now and again, when something pops up that we wonder about – the thought that perhaps we’re missing something important – it’s worth a reminder that actually our forking out another $97 would most likely be a waste of money as we already know the awesomeness and just need to pull our fingers out and get on with it!
OK, so perhaps my tongue is somewhat in cheek (no change there, then) but maybe, just maybe, all the articles, ebooks, webinars, blogs have sunk in over time and we already are awesome, that we already know what is being sold to us – and they are notĀ targetingĀ us after all, anyway – the t-shirts are wearing out now and no longer fit, so perhaps it’s time to just get on with it and stop thinking that another course or ebook will give us the answers.
Could it be that now the only thing holding back us is ourselves? Knowing that we do know what we’re doing, that we just have to get on with it! JFDI!

What we need Babs is not tips, tricks and awesome hacks but a kick up the backside!
Sadly people have yet to work out a way of getting that off screen into the visible world
Glad it’s not just me. I know all the internet marketers say you have to have a long sales letter full of ‘secrets’ but I’ve read so many ‘secrets’ that aren’t, well, secrets at all that the thought of using the word myself makes me cringe. The secrets of success seem to be a) work hard b) listen to people c) keep going d) don’t get distracted by the next big thing because there’ll be another big thing along in 10 minutes. Boring eh?
I’m pretty sure there are no ‘amazing secrets’ left…
