Jackie Walker – Genius at Work

I have been blogging for Birds on the Blog for approximately 6 months and what has become very apparent to me since joining is the strong bond that is shared between the Birds.  Of course we discuss blogs and WordPress and some of the Birds are so clever they talk a different language about tags and SEO, but we also offer each other support as women.

All the Birds come from very different backgrounds and businesses, we don’t always agree we often have opposing standpoints but when one of us is in need we are all there to help however we can whether it be supportive words or in the case of Babs house visits with lunch.

Being a newish bird I have watched this happen from the sidelines until this week, I was the one in need of kind words and support.  Meltdown time for me with a myriad of crises all landing at the same time, my brain was fried and I apologised to my fellow birds for my lack of contribution in terms of blogs and comments.  Whenever I tried to sit down and write I was faced with a brick wall so high and all I wanted to write was ‘angry words’.

So to my subject matter, many of the Birds offered me support and I was deeply touched by the camaraderie however @Jackie Walker heard something in my words that made her want to help in a practical way and we agreed to talk today.  Now I know that the Birds are to a woman fantastic but I didn’t realise we had a genius in the pack.

Having spent less than an hour on the phone to Jackie I am a new woman, the horrible gnawing feeling in my gut has gone, I feel like a weight has been lifted, like the world is different.  I am no longer riddled with angst but am looking at what is happening in a detached fashion.  Most of all the monkeys on my back that I carry and have carried have all been sent back to the zoo – for good

Jackie you are amazing – thank you and to all my fellow supportive Birds.

  1. Nicola, simply …. thank you.

There is nothing more heartening for me than to spend time with someone and help them find the solid ground beneath their feet again. Thank you so much for this beautiful and very public testimonial.

    • I agree, Jackie Walker is very special and has been a great support.

No matter how long or short a time you are with us, you are part of our community and help shape how women in business are perceived.

Together as a group we have supported each other through births, marriages, business upturns, business downturns, major surgery, illness, jumping off of high buildings, stalking, redundancies, job offers and we grieved when we lost one of our community. As to us all talking differently languages, we have one that unites us – friendship :)

The Birds are wonderful women, and every day I am grateful that they joined me here.
