Make Your Own Handmade Christmas Decorations And Gifts 2011 – Part Two

Carrying on with our Christmas crafts series, this week we will be looking at suggestions for general Christmas decorations for the home :)

Did you make any of the tree decorations suggestions from last week? Christmas berries © Nita Joy Designs

Has a really fun garland suggestion make out of cupcake cases, little cute pegs, stickers and string.

Joy shows you how to make the garland using normal every day firm edged cupcake  cases, but also shows a Christmas example, which I just love!

So have a go and make a Christmas garland this year :)

  • Recycle Now Campaign

Have put together a video on how to make a mini paper Christmas tree. You could use it to decorate your shelves or tables

For a further suggestion, get some star stickers and place on the paper before you assemble the tree.

Make paper snowflakes to decorate your windows, or make a garland.

Her easy to follow photographic instructions is something children will enjoy making

Please visit – Make paper snowflake decorations

Make a fresh Christmas wreath using plant material gathered from around your garden and beautiful roses. There is something about fresh floral Christmas wreaths that I really love.

Easy pinecone ornaments using gold spray paint and ribbon. You could add these to your Christmas wreath, hang on doors mixed with holly and berries.

Decorate a candle

For a friend who loves dragonflies and butterflies (a girl after my own heart) I am making some candle Christmas gifts for her. It’s not expensive, looks lovely as a decoration in your home, and would be a make a thoughtful gift. For instruction please visit – Make a candle Christmas gift

Each year I tie ribbon to the many picture hooks dotted around the house, and use mini pegs to clip the cards to the ribbon. It doesn’t damage the walls and spreads the theme throughout the house, simple, but pretty :) Here are some more ideas – Simple clutter free ways to display your Christmas cards

How do you display your Christmas cards?

I hope you are enjoying my mini series.

We have 2 more posts, looking at last minute handmade gifts and table decorations for Christmas day.

If you make some, let us know, we would love to see your photos!

  1. I’ll admit to making snowflakes with the girls ;)

We are beading later today, I just have to get the glue you recommended. As someone who isn’t very creative I do struggle with these sort of things but the kids enjoy making :)

  2. I’ve loved some of these ideas but when it comes to making anything with my hands a lump rises in my throat. I just know that my fingers will turn into thumbs and I’ll be the laughing stock of the household. Still maybe I should have a go any way…..
