Microsoft Word has a fairly new view called the Reading Layout. This view was meant to be used to read documents on the screen rather than print it out. It can be hard to read across a large screen especially if your font is set small. If it is hard to read you give up or it takes you longer to read.
So the reading layout was created, it shows the document more like a book, smaller pages that are narrower than a normal screen which is easier to read. You can customise this view and show either one or two pages. By default this might be the view when you open email attachments. That option can be turned off in the options window found in the tools menu.
If you are like me you probably did not like this view when you first saw it. But give it a chance. I found that I could read documents quicker using the Reading Layout view then by using Print Layout or Normal view. Try it for a week, that way you are giving it a chance and if you don’t like it, then go back to your old method. But if you do like it and your old method was to print out documents to read them then throw the paper away, you have saved some trees.
With todays environmental concerns how many of us could change the way we work slightly and make a large impact on our world. Give it a try.
