OK so you want to promote your brand? How can you get out to loads of people and gain more visibility and product use? Well it’s Simple… or rather Simple have come up with a way they think will work.
They are searching for a Simple star and using social media to do it, people are signing up in the hope of being the Simple star and winning a heap of goodies in return for promoting the Simple brand.
It is a clever way to get other people to blog, tweet and facebook about your brand and create interest around your products, so long as they actually use your products, believe in your brand and are well informed, consistent bloggers or tweeters. Otherwise it may just be people getting their mates to vote for them so they can get their hands on the prize and not actually getting people to use the products.
You need people that are walking, talking case studies who are going to invest time in promoting your brand for you. You have to have a strong enough brand and be prepared for other people to disagree with comments as social media is all about opinions and freedom of speech and we know not everyone agrees all the time!
There is no doubt that facebook, twitter, blogging and other forms of social media are a fantastic way to promote your brand but I always feel that they have to come with a caveat. I have been on social media courses where they’ve told you to blog and tweet, but not told you how to and have assumed that you have an idea of sentence structure or have anything interesting to say to your audience. People run the risk of going on a course and then thinking it’s a good idea to bombard their twitter page and blog with a load of nonsense that is just going to annoy people, I refer back to my previous blog about network etiquette , the same rules apply to a certain extent.
I’m not saying by any stretch of the imagination that I am the most interesting person to follow on twitter, or that I am the best blogger but I try to be informative if somewhat opinionated and will only RT tweets or put up links that I feel would appeal to me and my followers.
So, promoting Simple via social media – is it going to work? Well, let’s find out shall we? I have signed up to be a Simple Star. I have used Simple products and like them, so why not? Let’s see how many people engage with me, and how many I can turn into votes, will it just be my friends and family or will I be able to get people to go out and buy Simple products?
If you fancy joining me on my Simple journey then vote for me right here http://www.simple.co.uk/simple-stars/i+am+emily.aspx and next time you’re in the supermarket why not try Simple Radiance Brightening Cleansing Wipes, they’re fantastic to take on holiday or a weekend break and save time doing your whole routine or taking loads of little bottles with you.
(I feel I have already sold my soul to Simple so make it worth my while!)

I voted for you Emily!
I think it's interesting how different brands come up with different interactions. Reebok are doing something with women bloggers that involves them using 'toning' trainers and then blogging, the good, the bad and the ugly about the product, which Reebok then promote via their fanpage, blog and twitter – very open and transparent, very impressive.
I am a fan of HalfPricePerfumes.co.uk as every now and then you can get a fab deal on Jean Paul Gaultier, each week they send out freebies from their fan page as well as showcasing some interesting offers on cosmetics, but what is even funnier is reading the comments that people post
so I get entertainment value as well.
Keep us posted as to how you get on, I noticed yesterday you went from 3 votes to 45 in a very short time – this social media works!
