It’s good to be green… Or so they say but what happens when your “green” lifestyle goes wrong? Who has a backup plan for everything… Not me that’s for sure. We live in a rural area and as we have no mains water we rely on rainwater for our supply and apart from a couple weeks during the summer it pretty much works. Last year we were barely in December and as soon as the snow hit we were left with no water at all, we remember from previous years to blanket the tanks so they are fine but we forgot the most basic thing in the world…lagging the water pipes that are under the Caravan…We remembered last year but thanks to our wonderful four legged friends, the lagging seems to all but have disappeared and I am now faced the prospect of Christmas with no running water. We can still fill barrels from the tank so it’s not all bad but next year….

I never intended to live this lifestyle it just sort of happened but I know now I could never return to city ways, so I thought I would share our experiences and hopefully show that being green is not boring or hard work (all the time) and saves an absolute fortune which, during this recession, has come in handy.
