Rhiannon Hill

Rhiannon Hill was born in Lewisham, South London and currently lives and works in Brighton, East Sussex. She is 60 and has a grown son and daughter and three grandsons.

She was a national journalist and editor for many years and contributed to local radio and TV. She has been a local newspaper editor, car test writer and TV critic, wrote briefly for a Melody Maker insert publication and was News Editor of Nursing Mirror magazine. She worked in trade press her main area of expertise being food retailing. She has been a body centred psychotherapist and person centred, integrative counsellor, since 1990. She now specialises in Relationship and Couple Therapy. www.brightonhovecounselling.co.uk

Her other specialisations are anxiety and phobias, bereavement, and as a former follower of a guru herself has worked with many people struggling with issues associated with spiritual teachers. She was also a drug and alcohol counsellor and has worked as a college counsellor, in a women’s refuge and for an HIV drop-in centre. During the 1990s she was also a foster carer for adolescents with challenging behaviours.

Her other speciality is groupwork aimed at tackling workplace bullying.
Rhiannon has been a musician all her life, winning a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She plays electric violin, guitar, piano and sings and has been in many commercial and original bands covering folk rock, country, drum ‘n bass and rock covers and is a regular at local jams and open mics.

She currently has an all women band called Wynd, for which she writes most of the material. http://www.blogger.com/home?pli=1 Wynd is an eclectic rock band, most of the lyrics of the songs tackle current issues. Rhiannon has also written several books, and has published two professional e-books: Ten Stupid Things That Can Mess Up Your Life and Ten Stupid Things That Can Mess Up Your Working life, and is working on two fictional works. She is also deeply involved in environmental issues, specifically low carbon buildings.

Her other interests are social politics and she has been a prolific blogger for the past six years on a range of subjects especially global financial and environmental issues.
Rhiannon has been a spiritual practitioner for thirty years, is a trained healer and lives by Buddhist principles of non violence and mindfulness. She has also gained qualifications as a public speaker.

For leisure Rhiannon spends time helping to refurbish her partner’s house in central France and travelling.
Rhiannon does not plan to retire. ‘My work does not feel like work, every client or couple is different, most people really benefit from their therapy and I am continuously impressed at the courage of the human spirit and the willingness to explore and grow that I find in most of the people with whom I am privileged to work.’
