Most people use the undo feature within most software, but have you used Redo? This feature is little known but very useful. First lets look at Undo.
The undo button is easy to use, you make a change to a document and think, oh I should not have done that, so you press the button and it undoes the action you just did. If you press it again it will undo the action before etc. The shortcut key to do this is Control Z.
Beside the undo button is a small arrow down. When you click on this arrow down it will show you a list of actions that has been done, not usually the exact action, for example if I am formatting text and change the colour to blue then the font size, it will just say font colour and on the next line font size. Instead of pressing the button several times to undo several actions, you can see how many actions you want to undo and click on the one to undo to. You cannot pick and choose in this list, if you click on the 5th item it will undo everything to that item rather then just that item.
Redo can be handy as well. Every become undo happy? Over use undo and get rid of something you didn’t mean to? Redo will redo the action you just undid using undo. So if I only want to undo my last 2 actions but accidentally click on it three times, I can press the redo button beside it to redo the last action that was undone.

I never knew about the short-cut Control Z. I am learning all the time, thank you
I only discovered the Redo button about a year ago. And I love keyboard shortcuts.
That's really useful – thanks Katherine!

Don’t forget that you can also use ctrl+Y (redo) as well as ctrl+Z for undo.
Another handy place for undo is when you delete something in explorer and you don’t want to hunt through the recycle bin.
Keep up the good blogging =)
